A Biography of

TONY ROI

The Man, The Voice, The Music

Tony Roi, Singer, Song Writer, Actor, was born in Havana, Cuba and moved to Florida at four months old.  When he and his family relocated to New Jerseyat age 5, he discovered both his talent and his love of music by being exposed to Rhythm and Blues, Rock and Roll, Classical, Country as well as Latin music.  At the young age of 18 he embarked on his own career by performing in night clubs on the Eastern shores of New Jersey, as well as in Virginia, and South Carolina.

He then headed to the beaches of Florida, where he and his new band, Tony Roi and the Roman Nights performed to crowds singing Top 40’s cover songs. He then revamped his show and formed Tony Roi and the Florida T-Birds performing 50’s and 60’s style music, which is where his tribute to Elvis Presley was born.  Tony paid his dues, during the next 4 years, by taking his show on the road through Florida, Kentuck, Tennessee and Georgia.

In Florida, Tony was performing to audiences nightly, when famous producer John Stuart caught his show and was amazed by Tony’s talent and his tribute to Elvis.  Mr. Stuart had created and produced a hit show at the Marco Polo Hotel in Miami Beach, called Legends in Concert.  Mr. Stuart could see a future for Tony Roi as a Tribute Artist as well as a way to bring Legends to a different level. He offered Tony an opportunity to bring his talent to the city of Las Vegas as part of the Legends in Concert show.  At this same time Tony had won 1st Runner up in the regional Star Search competition guaranteeing him a spot on the Nationally Televised program in Hollywood. He chose to pursue the opportunity with Legends in Concert.   He saw this as a way to use his acting abilities, and showcase himself as an entertainer, performer, and vocalist. With Legends, Tony won many awards, Best Singer and Best Performer in a Variety Show, 3 years running in Las Vegas. During this time Tony also appeared on The David Letterman Show 2 times and was used for his karate and dance abilities in the movie, Elvis and Me.  He also made several commercials including a National commercial for the organization, MADD.    

At this time Tony began his world tours with Legends in Concert entertaining the people of Japan, Taiwan,Korea and Hong Kong.    After touring Asia, Tony arrived in New York Cityand made his debut on Broadway performing in, “Legends in Concert on Broadway”.   Tony was such success, he was invited to be a guest on The Regis and Kathy Lee Show, All My Children, and The David Letterman Show for his 3rd time.

Tony’s tours continued, bringing him to Boston, where he met a promoter inviting him to the Hawaiian Islands.  Tony then produced his own show, performing as himself.  Thrilling crowds with his new exciting show, the first half of the show was an awesome tribute to Elvis and the second half Tony chose to feature his original music, which was a huge success!

While performing in Hawaii, Tony was able to spend time in the recording studio, writing and producing his own music.  Tony released his first album titled, “This Is Tony Roi”.

Tony’s next travels brought him to the island of Aruba, for 4 months, to perform at La Cabana Casino Resort.  While performing there, he was offered to open up a new showroom in Foxwood Casino Resort, in  Connecticut, to perform along with Frank Gorshen.  Here he produced and performed his own show for 6 months.

His next engagement brought Tony and his show to The Bally’s Grand Hotel and Casino, in Atlantic City for the next 6 months where he continued to capture his audiences.

Tony returned back to his home base in Hawaii, to finish some of his recording projects.  There, he was reunited with Mr. John Stuart, and was offered to open a new showroom in Hawaii, for Legends in Concert.  While performing in Hawaii, famous Record Producer, Jack White, from Berlin Germany, saw Tony and loved what he heard.  Tony then signed a 7-year contract with recording label, BMG.  The recording contract took Tony to Germany, where he recorded 7 Singles, and then his Hand in Hand Album which became a Gold RecordTony toured Germany to support the album and still gets letters from his European fans.

During his travels between Europe and the United States, Tony was invited to open another new venue for Legends in Concert at Bally’s Park Place in Atlantic City.  He was found to be a main attraction of the show and fans were known to return to the show time and again to see Tony Roi.  Tony was given the Arts Center Awards, for Best Performer, Best Entertainer in a Variety Show in 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, and 1999! 

In 2000, Tony’s journey continued to Branson, Missouri for Legends in Concert, to help generate excitement for the show. He performed with the show for three years while continuing to open new venues for Legends in Concert throughout the United States as well as in Iceland.

In 2004, once again, Tony Roi gave his audiences what they really wanted, by producing and starring in his own show!  Tony Roi, The Experience, is currently running at The Music City Center in Branson, Missouri. A full two-hour, live concert, performed 6 days a week, it’s a show that should not be missed!  Tony has produced 5 more Cd’s and a DVD since he’s been in Branson, Missouri.   His talent never ceases to amaze his fans.  He understands that it is more than just performing, it’s a connection and healing of the soul that drives him to touch people with his powerful vocal abilities and heartfelt performance. Tony has a tremendous fan base that continues to grow every day. Tony has won Branson Entertainer of the Year Award in 2003, and Best Performer in 2004 and 2005!  Tony recently has won 3 more Awards for 2006, Best Singer 2006, Best Performer 2006 & Best Show 2006 for Tony Roi, The Experience!  Tony Roi’s tribute to the King of Rock and Roll combined with his awesome original music is a full package, a complete powerhouse show, leaving crowds of all ages asking for more!
